REVIEW: Meatsumo Samgyeopsal in Sampaloc, Manila

Meatsumo is located in Fusebox food park along Asturias St. in Sampaloc, Manila. Me and my friends usually go here to relieve ourselves after our thesis work in 933 Creatives or from school. It’s open until 1AM but they take last call for orders at 12mn. They also have loyalty card to be stamped during your every visit and grants you free dine in after your 10th visit.

Price.

P499 for Unlimited Pork & Beef inclusive of unlimited sides, rice and red tea. You can avail their discounted price of P449 when you arrive at 11PM onwards. Not bad! Rating: 8/10

Meat.

Meatsumo has a lot of meat variation. They don’t just offer unlimited pork belly, hence, they also offer unlimited beef varieties.

My favorite is the Beef Bulgogi and the Pork Galbi. Rating: 8/10

Sides.

I love how Meatsumo offers not just the typical samgyeopsal sides. They offer a large variety of sides (as seen on the menu) but I’m sad that they don’t have the baby potatoes. Their lettuce are always served green and fresh tho. All their sides are unlimited including their rice so make sure to make the most of it! My personal favorites are the steamed egg, chicken karage and california maki. Chicken karage are like chicken balls, kinda heavy on your stomach so make sure you enjoy your unli beef and pork first before the sides! Rating: 7.5/10

During our first try here we finished 42 plates of meat. Wew! Hello fats.

Place.

The place is just small as it is inside a food park. It can accommodate approximately 20-25 people. They have the exhaust tubes to keep the smoke from swarming the small place though. They also play KPOP music videos on their LED screen, mostly old school KPOP like 2NE1 (fave!), BiG BANG, Psy. Rating: 7/10

Service.

The waiters and waitresses are very accommodating and warm, I’ll give them that. We usually go here around 10PM or later and it’s nice how the crews are still attentive and all smiles during that time of the busy day of a samgyeopsal place. I’m thinking maybe they’re trained to be that accommodating because they are located beside Samyupsalamat and the competition is tough. Rating: 8.5/10
